Condolences
The Council for Bengali Cultural Alliance United Kingdom (Sommilito Shahitya O Sangskritik Parishad Juktorajya) is deeply saddened by the death of Mr. Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury, eminent journalist and chief adviser of the Council for Bengali Cultural Alliance United Kingdom (Sommilito Shahitya O Sangskritik Parishad Juktorajya).
The prominent columnist Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury, the composer of Ekushey's song ["My Brothers' Blood Spattered"] breathed his last at Barnett Hospital in London at 6:40 am (19 May 2022) London time today. He was 88 years old at the time of his death. He was suffering from various ailments for a long time.
Gaffar Chowdhury has been awarded many prizes in recognition of his work. He received the UNESCO award in 1973. Besides, he has been awarded Bangla Academy Medal, Ekushey medal, Sher-e-Bangla medal , Bangabandhu meadal and many more. His published book 30.
